What are Gross Motor Skills?
Gross motor skills involve the large muscles used for movement — running, jumping, climbing, balance, coordination, and body awareness. These skills are essential for physical play, safety, and participation at school.
Does your child struggle with any of the following?
Difficulty running, climbing, or jumping
Poor balance or frequent tripping
Trouble riding a bike or scooter
Weak posture or fatigue during sitting
Avoiding playground activities or sports
Difficulty with coordination (catching, throwing, skipping)
Delays in motor milestones
How OTs Help
Our OTs observe and assess movement patterns, coordination, strength, balance, and postural control.
Therapy may include:
Core and upper body strengthening
Balance and coordination training
Reflex integration activities
Motor planning tasks (obstacle courses, sequencing)
Body awareness (proprioceptive input)
Playground skills
We support your child at home or school to help them feel safe, confident, and capable during everyday movement.
