What is Psychotherapy?
Pediatric psychotherapy supports children and teens in understanding their emotions, managing stress, and developing healthy coping skills for everyday life. Therapy helps children make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and supportive space.
Children may not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Psychotherapy uses developmentally appropriate approaches, including play-based and conversation-based strategies, to help children express themselves, build emotional awareness, and learn skills to navigate challenges at home, school, and in relationships.
Psychotherapy looks at the whole child, including their emotional well-being, thinking patterns, behaviour, relationships, and environment, to support mental health and overall functioning.
