What is School Readiness?
School readiness includes the foundational skills children need to succeed in structured learning environments — emotional regulation, attention, fine motor skills, sensory regulation, organization, transitions, and early academic skills.
Does your child struggle with any of the following?
Sitting for circle time
Following instructions
Transitioning between activities
Holding a pencil or printing
Staying focused
Managing frustration
Backpack organization
Classroom noise or sensory overstimulation
Participating in group activities
How OTs Help
Our OTs assess the underlying skills that affect your child’s performance at school: sensory needs, regulation, fine/gross motor skills, attention, executive functioning, and emotional coping.
Therapy may include:
Zones of Regulation
Executive functioning strategies (planning, flexibility, routines)
Printing and pre-writing skills
Classroom sensory accommodations
Visual schedules and task breakdown
Desensitization to busy environments
Teacher and school collaboration
Confidence-building activities
We help your child feel prepared, regulated, and capable — both at home and in the classroom.
